Vishal Nayer’s Acting workshop (Begin To Believe) is many things but it was nothing like I expected it to be ….. it was much more than that. A very close friend of mine recommended it to me and told me about the things she learnt as well but experiencing it was completely different and it was nothing short of magical to me.
There is no point in me talking about the contents of the course because that is something for you to experience, I would like to talk about the things I have gained from this workshop that I never expected.
Our teacher Vishal Nayer never let us leave the class feeling anxious or incapable
He is a master at understanding people and communicating things effectively, and so he communicates with kindness and consideration while being completely honest. It is very easy to trust him because he acts and teaches with such vulnerability you can simply see through his intention, because he allows you to.
Every single one of us at every point was included into the conversation and in the lessons we were learning in class. Every one of us were listening to him with rapt attention despite it being an 8-9 hour class. The thing is …. When you see someone putting all of their heart and soul into their work, there is nothing you can do to ignore it and there is no way you can look away. You are inspired by the fire in his heart and want to give back all you have got. I’ve never found myself so involved and interested to go on even after a class has ended, and because there is so much more left to desire, Vishal also holds a bonding session at a cafe after class so all of us can sit together and discuss things we learnt in class, clear our doubts, talk about life, until the place closes at 11pm and they have to kick us out XD .
I have found a new family in my batchmates and mentors and I would like to thank Vishal, his mentor Ratan Thakore Grant and the MISF!T family for creating this wonderful safe space and community.
Many of us felt seen in a way that a lot of us haven’t had the privilege of experiencing in life. Every person is given complete attention and personal guidance.
I personally have been travelling the world pursuing a modelling career and for the first time I find myself wishing I was back in India with this new found community.
It makes me emotional to write this feedback because I don’t think words can do justice to the magic and life that was awakened in me after this workshop. There are a very few people you come across in life that have the kind of passion, empathy, selflessness and dignity that can inspire you just by their being and I feel privileged to have met Vishal.
The course taught me to be kind to myself, to have faith in the process, renewed my trust in the goodness of human beings, remember what it felt like to be a child again, to own my fears with confidence, and it was just perfectly curated to help us learn the basics of acting step by step using both theory and practical exercises, it ignited the joy of learning and the curiosity that we all had as children.
I CANNOT WAIT to go back and join the level 2 Workshop , buzzing tilll that happens.
