Saksham- Feedback on Level 1 Workshop (2025/1)

There are parts of us that we all lose in our journey of growing up —parts that made us wholesome, curious, beautiful, and wonderful. It’s the way of the world that makes us forget what it was like to be as trusting and true as a child.

Vishal Nayer’s acting workshop is where I was able to find those lost parts again.

I found out about the workshop through a truly random series of events — and it turned out to be the very definition of the word serendipity!

I joined the workshop partly on a whim, partly to push myself to do something out of my comfort zone.

Even after paying the fees, I wasn’t sure if I would actually join. Giving up six complete weekends, and facing the anxiety of presenting myself to a room full of strangers, was strong enough reason to reconsider.

But I took the first step and went for the first class — and I am so grateful I did.

The classes are so incredibly designed that you willingly push your boundaries and do things you would never normally do in daily life. You feel safe, comfortable, and understood.

The sessions take you through the basics, technicalities, and nuances of acting. They make you truly appreciate the enormous difficulty of the art form — and yet believe that you can master it with enough work.

But more than that, the workshop helps you connect with your true emotions.

Reconnect with your inner child.

Learn to trust again.

You learn how to not be embarrassed about the space you take up in this world.

How to not take yourself too seriously.

How to be okay with making a fool of yourself — and most importantly, how to be vulnerable again.

Because a true actor needs the ability to do all of the above; it is not just about speaking the right set of lines.

The generous Misfit community also supports you all along the way.

Mentors — graduates from previous batches — accompany you in each class, helping you push yourself further.

Over the last week, you work on your grading performance:

you perform in front of an actual audience, who give you live feedback on your act.

But you don’t worry about that — because the amazing mentors give their all to prepare you for the stage, working day and night to refine every minute detail, and helping you learn how to have fun with your performance!

I joined the workshop thinking I would just learn a bit of acting.

After six weeks, including an unforgettable grading week, I left with a whole new understanding of myself, countless memories, and some amazing bonds with my batchmates and mentors — who became nothing short of an unexpected family.

The workshop has been an experience beyond any expectations.

And Vishal is a truly astounding teacher — someone to genuinely look up to.

I don’t want to give specific details about the classes and teaching style.

For that, one must truly join this euphoric experience.

That way, they too can experience what I did — the joy and wonder of discovering a fresh teaching style, meeting amazing people, and finding themselves.

That way, they too can truly begin to believe.
