Parag Mani- Feedback on Level 2 Workshop (2023/1)

Dear Vishal –

It has been an unexplainable feeling from the time I walked in your Level 2 acting workshop on 7th October 2023. The intent was to casually attend & refresh what I had learnt very quickly. I tried to keep that intent for the next two weekends, but your intensity & passion was something I could not ignore.

From there on, I got fully involved in all the exercises & homework. You are a super talented, committed & passionate individual as a teacher. Every course content in the class coming from you fundamentally stems from your passion and your commitment to the craft for 15 years of perfecting it; your solid professional experience is the evidence of it – “Proof is always in the taste of the pudding”.

You helped me break my own boundaries as an aspiring actor with candid feedback on strengths and opportunities of improvement. With your solid technical knowledge of the craft, you were able to systematically break down the details of the course & delivered it in the most simplistic manner. You provided relevant examples from actual movies/ actors while explaining concepts which became relatable to understand. Your ability to understand the in-class dynamics & create a cohesive environment is really commendable which leads to being a methodical organizer and executor – direction of our grading being the best example in this case. The journey is your classes were mind boggling, allowed me to step back, explore my vulnerabilities, understand & appreciate my own strengths which gives me a feeling & confidence – I can also act.

A few accomplishments (Brag-Brag) to call out post the workshop :

  • I can create funny/ serious characters though I thought being funny was difficult for me on stage
  • I can evoke emotions very quickly using the exercises I learnt during the workshop. Emotions of sadness/fear leading to breakdown at will – isn’t that an amazing accomplishment?
  • I am very easily able to identify my mistakes or areas of improvement – helps me to understand myself better. This also helps me to explore what would I do differently if I had a retake (So sad – Stage plays don’t have retakes – Truly authentic from the get – go, bu they do have rehearsals;))
  • I can easily identify my own BS when I don’t follow the process. Damm it – I MUST follow the process
  • Learnt to become super emphatic with myself, others and the characters I portray.

To everyone else who is reading this – I strongly recommend Vishal’s acting classes don’t miss this opportunity.

Regards,

Parag
