Tapas Agarwal – Feedback on Level 1 Workshop (2023/2)

I have had the privilege of being a part of Vishal Nayer’s acting workshop. I have always been deeply passionate about cinema and theatre, but I never had the opportunity to pursue anything in these fields. There are very few learning avenues available here in Bangalore. I had always wanted to join the MISFIT workshop in the past, but due to some reasons, I wasn’t able to. Maybe this was the right time. I learned about the acting workshop through MISFIT’s mailing list when I was going through a low phase in my life. It was a stroke of serendipity.
Still unsure whether I should join the workshop, I mustered the courage to call up Vishal. Taking that leap of faith turned out to be a positive decision for me. Our cohort of dramatic dozen had their diverse personalities, aspirations, and expectations from the workshop. However, all of these elements came together seamlessly under Vishal’s guidance. He created a safe space where we could truly be ourselves, discover our hidden potential, and embrace the actor within.
The six-weekend workshop was meticulously structured, covering the fundamental aspects of acting, stage and camera presence, movement, and other technicalities that are often taken for granted by audiences. From my perspective, this workshop is an excellent entry point for anyone looking to explore the field of acting. Beyond acting skills, the workshop also contributed significantly to my personal development, boosting my self-confidence and enhancing my interpersonal skills.
At the culmination of the workshop, I had the opportunity to perform on stage in front of a live audience – something I had yearned for, but lacked the courage to do before. It was an overwhelmingly gratifying experience for me. Moreover, this workshop led me to discover a community of like-minded individuals who share my passion for cinema and theatre.
Vishal’s kindness, passion, and unwavering dedication to his students is truly inspiring. I have begun to resonate with his mantra, #BeginToBelieve.
